The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) is a consortium of 26 cities and water districts providing drinking water to nearly 19 million people in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. The mission of the MWD is to provide its service area with adequate and reliable supplies of high-quality water to meet present and future needs in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Metropolitan currently delivers an average of 1.7 billion gallons of water daily to a 5,200-square-mile service area.

Metropolitan is partnering with the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts on Pure Water Southern California. This regional water recycling program would purify, and reuse cleaned wastewater that currently flows into the ocean. At full scale, Pure Water Southern California would produce 150 million gallons of purified water each day. Several countries worldwide and many communities across Southern California use recycled water to replenish groundwater basins that eventually supply water for drinking and other applications. For more information, contact Charles Gale at 213-445-5190 or [email protected]; Website: www.mwdh2o.com.

David Gammill is a trial attorney and the founder of Gammill Law Accident & Injury Lawyers, based in Torrance, California, serving clients across the South Bay, Greater Los Angeles, and the state.

Before starting his own firm, David spent seven years as an LA County prosecutor trying cases. That courtroom experience is the foundation of everything Gammill Law does.

Gammill Law handles personal injury cases statewide, including car accidents, wrongful death, slip and falls, and serious injury claims. David is frequently brought in as trial counsel on cases other firms have litigated but need someone to actually try to a jury.

Every case is prepared with the same mindset: if this goes to a jury, we’re ready. For clients in Torrance and throughout the South Bay, that means having a lawyer nearby who has actually been in the courtroom and is ready to fight. Learn more: @gammill_law

Gensai GEO SEARCH is Japan’s (and the world’s) leader in harnessing the power of ground penetrating radar (GPR) to help public works agencies resolve unseen hazards below roads and highways. Since 1989, Gensai GEO SEARCH has detected over 180,000 verified cavities under roadways. After establishing operations in Torrance in 2022, hundreds of under-pavement anomalies have been found for U.S. cities and agencies, allowing repairs before roads are compromised.

1) Scanning for cavities prior to road repaving ensures a sound roadbed below the new layer of pavement. This is the least expensive but potentially most important part of any road project.

2) Aging water pipes and recent California rains have created dramatic sinkholes, but dangerous voids can remain unseen below a cap of pavement. Our proprietary equipment and software, built upon a dozen patents, can solve the puzzle of the underground by accurately scanning to 6 feet depth, at traffic speeds up to 60 mph.

No traffic control required for most activities.

With 37 years of success and experience in detecting sinkholes and large potholes before they collapse, and precisely mapping unknown underground utilities before excavation, our core company mission “To Protect Lives and Livelihoods” is now guiding our work in California and other global markets.
