The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) needs volunteers to help with its research programs and community outreach events, primarily for the South Bay Environmental Services Center, a program of the SBCCOG. Our team is highly motivated and works in the areas of transportation, environment, seniors, homeless, and land use. We are looking for individuals to support our team. Our volunteers work on data gathering, ArcGIS, community outreach, graphic design, social media, and general Microsoft Office systems, depending on their skills and their interests. We invite individuals to apply that want to make a difference in their community.

Volunteer activities could include supporting:

  • Research and analysis
  • Creative services
  • Community fairs and other outdoor events
  • Classes and workshops in eco-friendly landscaping, native gardening, and sustainable living, as well as other indoor events
  • Rain barrel giveaways
  • Office staff

If you are interested in promoting sustainability and protecting the quality of life in our region, the South Bay Cities Council of Governments wants to have you on our team. Hours are flexible, and no special knowledge is required – we provide training!

The South Bay Environmental Services Center provides informational outreach on environmental and sustainability programs, helping residents to implement sustainability practices and projects that save water, save energy, and save money. SBESC is a program of the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.

How to Become a Volunteer

The SBESC is continuously looking for volunteers that feel enthusiastic about helping their local community and the environment. If you are interested in getting involved and taking action to save energy, water and the planet, the SBESC would love to have you as part of the team.

Currently we are recruiting community outreach volunteers. The community outreach volunteer position is a challenging and rewarding opportunity, individuals are able to work at the grassroots level within local communities, providing environmental information that can directly influence behavior and choices. This volunteer needs to know how to develop relationships and one-on-one interaction. This is the perfect opportunity for those who like working with people and wish to make a difference at the community level. We are looking for outgoing and friendly volunteers with a positive attitude that enjoy both outdoor and indoor community events.
