16th Annual General Assembly
February 27, 2015 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
The SBCCOG’s 16th Annual General Assembly working title “A View From the Front Porch: Neighborhoods in the South Bay,” was held at the Juanita Millender-McDonald Community Center (801 E. Carson St., Carson CA 90745). The conference focused on neighborhoods – what makes a good neighborhood, what are some of the challenges cities face, and what is our vision for the neighborhood of the future. For the past 15 years the SBCCOG has brought together elected officials, city commissioners and staff, community and business leaders, and the public at this FREE event to hear and discuss issues of importance to the South Bay. View the program here.
To put the subject matter of this General Assembly in context, Wally Siembab, the SBCCOG’s Research Director, prepared a white paper for discussion on the topic, which includes a short summary of the history of South Bay neighborhoods and then sets forward a strategy for preparing for the future. Read it here.

The General Assembly was designed to kick off a continuing conversation with stakeholders about the challenges and opportunities facing the South Bay over the next 10 years. The issue is what we should do next to nurture and further develop that dialogue. As a result, we are going to extend a question to the public each month that speaks to the theme of the previous General Assembly. For the month of May, we ask:
On a scale of 1-10, how worried are you about the price of gasoline suddenly escalating or worse, having spot shortages accompanied by occasional lines at gas stations?
Please respond via either social media platform:
