Now is Your Chance – Free Landscape Designs and Grass Replacement Rebates for Residents and Business & Public Agencies

For West Basin service area residents, this program offers free landscape design services, valued at approximately $1,500, to help start your project. Since a landscape design is required to apply for the grass removal rebate, it’s the perfect opportunity to keep your yard renovation costs lower than ever, and will allow you to apply for grass replacement rebates up to $6 per square foot of grass removed.
This rebate program could save you up to $30,000 total for landscape projects that conserve water, reduce runoff and benefit the local environment. This is the largest rebate amount offered in program history, so take advantage of the chance to get money back for upgrading your landscape and apply now!
For businesses and public agencies within the West Basin service area, the grass replacement rebate was increased to an all-time high of $7 per square foot. Now is the perfect time to save money while removing thirsty, water-wasting turf spaces in preparation for the upcoming statewide non-functional turf irrigation ban. Starting in January 2027, non-residential properties in California such as city properties, office landscapes and industrial parks, will be prohibited from using potable drinking water to irrigate grass areas not used for recreation or gathering purposes.
The record high rebate incentive is part of Metropolitan Water District’s continued efforts to incentivize public agencies and businesses across Southern California to save water, reduce runoff and benefit the local environment. Eligible projects can range from 250 square feet up to 200,000 square feet, potentially earning a maximum rebate of up to $1,400,000.
West Basin also provides free landscape consultation and design services valued at up to $5,000. A landscape design is a required document for the grass removal rebate application, so this added complimentary service will reduce landscape transformation significantly.
