Important Message Shared by the City of Rolling Hills Estates
Our thoughts are with those affected by the ongoing wildfires in Southern California and surrounding communities, highlighting the critical need for preparedness and swift action. While there have been no wildfire impacts in Rolling Hills Estates or the Palos Verdes Peninsula, we remain vigilant and prepared. The Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, along with other partners stand ready to respond quickly, utilizing firefighting resources from the air and ground to protect lives and property.
Due to the ongoing Palisades, Eaton, Hurst and Woodley Fires in Los Angeles County, Ernie Howlett Park is designated to shelter large animals affected by evacuation orders. The city contracts with Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control to provide this site as an emergency large animal shelter and has similar arrangements should there be a needed evacuation in our area.
But, we can’t do this without your cooperation. Preparation and prevention go hand-in-hand. This Ready! Set! Go! brochure was designed by Los Angeles County Fire Department to provide you with critical information on creating defensible space around your home, retrofitting your home with fire-resistant materials, and preparing you to safely evacuate well ahead of a wildfire. Please protect yourself, your family, and your property from a devastating wildfire by taking the time to learn about Ready! Set! Go! |
