E. November 2018 Steering Committee meeting date – 12:10 pm

  • The regular date for this meeting will be a national holiday – Veterans’ Day – and our office is planned to be closed.
  • ACTION:  Change the date of the meeting to Tuesday, November 13

  • ACTION:  Discuss whether the SBCCOG should take a position on what appears to be a precipitous action by the CPUC in the interest of local control and in support of our member cities who have chosen to join the LACCE.

I. South Bay Sustainable Green Business Program Update – 12:40 pm – HELD TO FEBRUARY

  • Memo to be sent separately 
  • Since October, grant application has been made for continuing the program with new tools and  resources. Awards expected to be announced imminently
  • Previous discussion focused on how to offer business more – that we aren’t able to offer enough

It was suggested that meetings be held with some businesses to find out what would be helpful to  them.  Also, to look for case studies.

  • ACTION:  Provide direction 

 

J. Regional Coyote Management Next Steps – 12:50 pm

  • Last discussed in October when not many sitings were evidenced.
  • Possible grant through the California Department of Food and Agriculture for review by the Vertebrate Pest Control Research Advisory Committee discovered.   Discussions with Torrance Police representatives re: possible application for South Bay public education project

  • Legislative Breakfast – January 11, 2018
  • City questions were solicited.  Any received will be reported at the meeting
  • ACTION:  Decide on questions that legislative staff should be asked to be prepared to answer
  • Legislative Meet and Greet – January 26, 2018 – co-sponsoring with LCC and SBACC

VIII. INFORMATION ITEMS

O. Update on Homeless Program – 1:30 pm

  • PATH sent 2018-2019 budget request for SBCCOG services to Supervisors Hahn & Ridley-Thomas.  Amount reduced to take into account programs funded by Measure H.  Budget had been $601,000.  2018-2019 request is for $474,520 and 2019-2020 and 2020 and 2021 is for $524,120 for each year.  Funding for SBCCOG coordination and oversight still included.  District 4 (Hahn) has confirmed their participation.
  • January 24 – LA County Homeless Count – good showing from South Bay cities – flyer attached
  • Tentative Event Dates
  • February 8 – Outreach meeting planned for direct services to clients. Service providers set up tables and the clients go around getting various forms of assistance. Close to 40 agencies participate convened by Harbor Interfaith including CES/housing, mental health, substance abuse, veterans, domestic violence and County departments like DPSS for GR and Cal Fresh applications, DHS for Medi-Cal applications, etc.  The clients get stamps for visiting providers and then get lunch.
  • February 14- tentative – bus tour of 3 successful permanent supportive housing sites for elected officials and staff sponsored by LINC Housing.  Supervisor Hahn is sponsoring the bus.   

 

P. Broadband Next Steps – 1:35 pm

  • Supevisor Ridley-Thomas’ staff has confirmed that they will be sending the SBWIB $45,000 and the SBWIB has agreed to fund the SBCCOG an additional $25,000 for a total of $40,000 to compensate for Supervisor Hahn’s denial of our request
  • The $45,000 will be provided for a contract with Magellan Associates who will be the technical advisors on preparing the regional network RFP.  
  • Kick-off meeting with Magellan and SBWIB is February 2.
