The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) is a joint powers authority government agency of 16 cities and Los Angeles County that shares the goal of maximizing the quality of life and productivity of the South Bay subregion of Los Angeles. South Bay cities and the county maintain the qualities and characteristics that make them unique and independent, while coming together collectively to address issues of common interest for a greater good. Overseen by a board of directors, the SBCCOG conducts business through committees and working groups made up of city and county elected officials & staff, government partners, and members of the community.

Come to our table to learn more about the SBCCOG’s programs including Transportation (Measure R, Measure M, Local Travel Network); Technology (South Bay Fiber Network); Energy & Water Conservation; Land Use and Climate Action Planning; Homeless and Senior Services, and more. A video montage featuring some of the SBCCOG’s recent work will be shared during the program. The SBCCOG will also have dedicated exhibits for the South Bay Environmental Services Center, South Bay Local Travel Network, its Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Working Group, and its Homeless Services program. SBCCOG Program Exhibits include:

South Bay Local Travel Network: The South Bay Local Travel Network is a project being implemented in partnership with South Bay cities designed to safely accommodate micromobility device users on existing slow-speed neighborhood streets to reach local destinations. The proposed 243-mile route will eventually connect the South Bay with streets marked by “rolling turtle” signs that notify users they are using the network and warn vehicles that they are sharing the road with micromobility users. Contact Aaron Baum, senior project manager; 310-371-7222 or email: [email protected]; website: https://southbaycities.org/programs/local-travel-network/

Homeless Services: The Homelessness Services team at the SBCCOG provides information and resources for our cities. The team works with state and county programs (Measure H, the Los Angeles County Plan to Prevent and Combat Homelessness) that benefit our cities and is constantly seeking and creating innovative solutions to fight homelessness in the South Bay. The Homelessness Task Force, comprised of city leaders and service providers, is managed by the Homelessness Services team. This group convenes once every two months to discuss innovative new solutions to combat homelessness, regional updates, and state/federal updates. GIS Working Group: The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Working Group consists of staff from SBCCOG member cities. Group members work to advance GIS technology in city operations through education, information sharing and joint projects. Questions? These values permeate our company. They guide how we think and drive our actions. As one of America’s largest energy providers, our values are the lens through which we see every opportunity and challenge.

With our values providing a strong foundation, our mission statement presents an actionable framework of purpose and intent. At SoCalGas, we’re dedicated to leading the transition to a decarbonized energy system.

We believe every Californian deserves a clean, affordable, resilient energy future. SoCalGas is working to achieve that future through innovation, collaboration, and decarbonization.

Southern California Edison is an Edison International Company. Edison is one of the largest electric utilities which manages 50,000 square miles of service area with nearly 15 million residents. SCE strives to deliver a safe and reliable source of electricity to approximately 5 million customer accounts daily.

The Water Replenishment District (WRD) has been managing and protecting groundwater resources for over 60 years. WRD manages two of the most utilized groundwater basins in the nation which provide nearly half of the drinking water for 4 million residents in the 43 cities of southern Los Angeles County. Through WRD’s Water Independence Now (WIN) Program, the District has developed a resilient and locally sustainable source of water for groundwater replenishment. WRD operates three water treatment facilities including two advanced water purification facilities and a groundwater desalter. WRD is working to double the capacity of the groundwater desalter in the City of Torrance; this will provide a new drinking water supply for the South Bay while increasing drought resilience for the region.
