J. Special Event – 12:40 pm

  • Gerald Desmond Bridge Tour – Thursday, January 18 @ 10 am???
  • Tour attendees will embark on a bus or van tour of the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement Project that visits both the east and west sides of the channel. On the east side, attendees will visit the westbound incline approach and Tower 17, one of the two huge 515-foot-tall columns that will support the bridge’s main span. One the west side, they will see the westbound decline approach that was recently completed at extends 180 feet into the air. On both sides, attendees will have the chance to see the innovative and massive 3.1 million-pound movable scaffolding systems that are building the approaches. The tour will be narrated by representatives from the Port of Long Beach and the engineering team that is overseeing the construction of the Bridge Project. Approximate length of the tour will be 90 minutes from departure.

L.  RHE Council meeting has questioned the SBCCOG dues structure and work program – 12:55 pm

  • Since the dues structure was created by the City Managers, I have asked them to discuss any recommendations for updates to the structure at their September 20 meeting.
  • ACTION:  Request board member attend RHE Council meeting on September 26 with Executive Director
