SB 743 & Other New Laws Special Workshop

Date:
Thursday, December 4, 2014
Time:
1:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.

The SBCCOG invites South Bay Public Works and Planning Staff to a special workshop entitled, "How the Legislature Changed the Way We Do Business: SB 743 & Other New Laws"

The workshop will be held on Thursday, December 4 from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the SBCCOG Office.

Expert Presenters Include:

Ron Milam, Principal with Fehr & Peers Transportation Consultants - Will lead the session on Senate Bill 743, the recent legislation that will fundamentally change transportation impact analysis in California.  Notably, this bill removes traffic level of service as a basis for determining transportation impacts in a CEQA document.  Ron will discuss the new set of draft transportation metrics, and the ramifications for a jurisdiction's own planning processes, as well as the CEQA review of development projects.  Ample time for question and answer will be provided.

Michael Kennedy, Associate with Fehr & Peers - Will present recommended approaches for addressing SB 743 in the context of the South Bay in the interim phase before guidelines have officially been adopted.

Jeff Kiernan, League of California Cities - Will summarize other pertinent state legislation.
