19th Annual General Assembly

The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) Board of Directors invites your participation for our 19th Annual General Assembly to be held at the Juanita Millender-McDonald Community Center in Carson on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. 

The theme for the SBCCOG’s General Assembly will be The Retail Revolution and Its Challenges for Cities. Across the nation, technological changes are disrupting the retail sector and regional economies. Retail businesses are closing, leaving vacant buildings resulting in less sales tax revenue that disrupts both city land use planning and municipal finance. Retailers remaining in business are automating. Dramatic decline in employment in the retail sector is expected. The General Assembly will bring together experts who will address the possible impacts from these forces of change on South Bay cities and strategies for adapting to the new conditions.
